Royal Opera House Awarded PAS 5222 Safeguarding Certification
The Royal Opera House has achieved certification under the British Standards Institution (BSI) PAS 5222: Safeguarding Children in Out-of-School Settings, becoming one of the first performing arts organisations in the UK to meet the standard.
The certification recognises the Royal Opera House’s commitment to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people engaged in its educational, outreach, and performance programmes.
Bramah HR’s rigorous audit process included a detailed review of the Royal Opera House’s safeguarding framework, child protection policies, training for creative and operational teams, and risk management procedures. This certification confirms that the organisation has embedded robust systems to safeguard young participants, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for creativity and learning.
Mark Bramah, Director of Safeguarding & People Operations at Bramah HR, commented:
“The Royal Opera House has demonstrated an exemplary approach to embedding safeguarding across its operations. This certification highlights the organisation’s leadership in maintaining the highest standards of protection and care within the cultural sector.”
PAS 5222 was developed by safeguarding experts and endorsed by the British Standards Institution (BSI) to define best practice across sectors such as education, media, the arts, and charitable organisations.
